Born March 22 1947, James Patterson is a tyrant in the world of fiction. Having published 95 novels since his first in 1976, James Patterson holds The New York Times record for most bestselling fiction titles by a single author, a total of 76 which also happened to be a Guinness World Record. His novels also account for one in every seventeen hardcover novels sold in the United States!
As an author James Patterson excels across the board, with novels in almost every genre he can do no wrong. For the crime obsessed there’s Alex Cross, Women’s Murder Club and Detective Michael Bennett, to name a few. For the Young Adult fantasy lovers there’s the incredible Witch and Wizard series & Maximum Ride featuring Angel, Maximum and The Gasman, normal teenagers, oh except they’re all about 2% bird.
Not only an incredible author, James Patterson has shown time and time again that he truly loves literature, and believes that writing can change the world. He has set up multiple foundations and initiatives to see that the written word is never overlooked or forgotten, his website ReadKiddoRead encourages children and parents from all over the world to get reading. ReadKiddoRead is full of helpful hints and tips on how to get your children to want to read, as well as advice and guidelines on what they should be reading. A perfect example of his passion to engage and interact with young readers are his series Middle School, Daniel X and Treasure Hunters, all written with reluctant readers in mind and ensuring that kids will stay interested in the story and want to keep reading. Patterson is also a founding partner of the Book Trust Programme which encourages not only kids reading but Dads reading to their kids and a general interest in all literature from all readers.
