James oh dear James Patterson, not only are you an amazing crime and thriller author you’re a fantastic children’s author to and we love you for it!

James Patterson was born on the 22 March 1947 in New York.  His mother was a teacher and homemaker and his father was an insurance broker.

James was a very bright child and when he grew up he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English from Manhattan College and summa cum laude with an M.A. in English from Vanderbilt University.

James published his first novel in 1976.  It was called The Thomas Berryman Number and features his much loved character Alex Cross.

He worked in advertising during this time until 1996, after that he dedicated all his time to writing.  He published his first novel in 1976

He has written tons of novels since then as has been hailed one of the busiest people in publishing.

NOT only does he spend his time writing fantastic stories, he also is someone who makes and effort to give back to the community.  He funds numerous scholarships and has created a website called ReadKiddoRead.com which is dedicated to inspiring little children to read.
