  1. My Dad is awesome as he helps me with everything in my life! He is my shining sun on a dark day and I love sharing laughs and life with him.

  2. My dad is super awesome, I would always joke that he is my favourite dad, even though that really means nothing since I only have one! In his life he has been a jungle gym for me to climb on when I was little and get piggy back rides, he has been a ‘pine cone’ (when he didn’t want to shave his beard), a constant physics and maths tutor staying up with me the night before tests , builder of tree-houses and gymnastics equipment, and singer of ridiculous songs.

  3. My Dad is my hero – he is always there for me no matter what. My Mom, sister and I are his princesses and he will do anything for us.

  4. Whether he’s your biological father, or the paternal figure in your life who took the job without question. Whether he stayed at home, or worked overtime to keep the family in order. Whether he’s a firefighter or the president of Armor All products, there is a special spot in your heart reserved for the first man you loved and admired.

And your father probably knows that too. It’s why he abuses the threshold of corny jokes that one can withstand. The truth is, despite how much he drove you crazy in your angst-filled teen years, one day you’re going to realize you took all those years living under his roof for granted. Because now you have to kill a spider on your own, or learn how to reset a pilot light β€” or maybe you just miss his lectures a little bit.

MY DAD IS AWESOME BECAUSE he taught me that life’s too short to not joke around and enjoy it. He also wears a million hats on top of being the best dad — photographer, chef, fixer-of-all-things and spider-killer.

  5. He may not be my biological dad but he is the best dad ever. I will always love him dearly because he taught my mom to love again and proved to my brothers and me the true meaning of family.

  6. My dad is my plumber, my electrician, my financer, my handyman.. he is just an allround awesome guy. He is just a phonecall away no matter what it is that I need.. πŸ™‚ I got married pretty late in life.. and i think it was an extremely happy day for him.. not because of the obvious.. but because of the fact that he knew I wouldn’t be calling him at 6 a.m in the morning to come over and remove a huge rainspider.. or hang up a picture.. I now had a hubby for all those things πŸ™‚ I am very lucky to still have him around and my children are mesmerised by the stories he comes up with πŸ™‚

  9. Having lost my Dad at a young age, it has been a huge blessing to have a great Dad in-law. He has filled the gap left by my own farther and is always there for me.

  10. Sadly, there is no actually literature/ nor single word that would do justice in describing how awesome my dad is ! So what I will say is that, without my dad, I would not be half the man I am today and for this I am thankful.

  11. My Father will always be my inspiration for what I do and that’s read. I’d love to show him how much I appreciate that gift he gave me by taking me to the library or giving me books or scolding me for reading an inappropriate book but still let me read it any way. The memories we share and the conversations we have over books will make this the best father’s day gift. Thank you for being awesome. All Dad’s are awesome in their own way.

  12. I have not see or spoken to my biological Father in over 8 years, but I do have an amazing Step-Dad for whom I am sincerely grateful. He is an avid reader and a huge fan of Archer books. This gift will certainly show him how much I appreciate and love him.

    1. I have read all the entries by others, and it is wonderful to see so many with special connections to their fathers. My Father is no more important to me than theirs is to them, but I do hope to be chosen for the prize. Sincere thanks for the opportunity.

  13. An awesome dad is one that will drive 400km just to help you move apartments or to spend 1 day with you on your birthday. An awesome dad would spend hours next to a sportsfield watching your crappy netball and miss out on a big game by the Springboks or Bulls. I’m so lucky I have an awesome dad like that.

  15. My dad is the most loving, warm, compassionate, caring & selfless person I have ever known. He is the one man who is the embodiment of happiness amidst all circumstances, unconditional virtuosity and generosity of spirit. He is a great father, an irreplaceable friend and a remarkable human being. He is full of zest for life, passionate….these are just some of the words that have been used by friends and family to describe him. Leading by example he always tries to imbibe in us values of love, compassion, forgiveness and forbearance. He never lost his cool, never got angry at us, was always there as a confidant and friend, eager to listen to our stories that were not always interesting. He always reminds me that the happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything. From him, I learned everything that I needed to survive in this challenging world. He taught me the real meaning of love (outside of emotions and beyond words) forgiveness, patience and grace. To us he is never just a doting father but also a wonderful friend who we could confide in and laugh with. He is an eternal optimist and his optimism even at the most adverse times, was not only astonishing but also exemplary. He always tells us to see good in others and he never judges people based on how others perceived them. It is his goodwill, his humanity and his selflessness that made him rich. When I look at the way he has lived his life, I understand the meaning of grace and courage. I understand the meaning of reaching out to friends, family and even strangers, in their hour of need, for what else is human life worth. I understand the meaning of giving without expectation and forgiving without conditions..He also taught us all the most important lessons in life. The ones of loyalty to the ones you love and respect of all other people. His love is special; he scolds to discipline, he nags with good intentions but deep down, he is all love. His Selflessness, ongoing Love and dedication to his family & sacrifices he has made for us over the years, makes him soooo Special and the best Dad Ever

  17. My dad is my pillar, my rock, my soul mate. We are alike in so many ways, connected in so many ways and we grow closer as each year passes. Nothing can break our concrete bond. He is one amazing mentor, support system and has the answer to everything. For this reason I am entering this competition, to give him what I cannot afford to buy, to say “I love you, dad, this is for you, you deserve it”

  18. My dad will absolutely love this gift! He loves books and it would be nice to get this for him after raising me up with my siblings as a single father!

He has sacrificed his life and raised us with my siblings, single handed with no help for my mom. This would mean the world to him.

  19. My dad is my hero, my inspiration and my role model. He loves me regardless of the times I have disappointed him and has reminded me of my own strength when I’ve felt weakest.

  21. my dad is literally the sweetest, most caring person. He decided he didn’t want anything for his birthday and decided to give all the money he got away to charity. he never ever does anything for himself – and always puts others first, it would be amazing if you guys could help me give back to the guy that gives back to everyone else.
