Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay KristoffIlluminae: The Illuminae Files: Book 1
By Jay Kristoff , Amie Kaufman
Space Opera meets Romeo and Juliet – The Star-Crossed (literally)
I’m not very big on science fiction, I much prefer fantasy but Illuminae was one of my favourite reads of 2015. I cannot find any fault with this novel. The format was fun and unique, the story had the perfect blend of action and romance. Both MC are badass in there our special way. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next book to be released!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Lani TaylorDaughter of Smoke and Bone
By Laini Taylor
Monsters and Angels
This is on my top five list. I must of read it at least 3 times. It was also the book that got me out of a three year long reading slump. I really love the fact that the main character is oblivious to this other world and that Laini Taylor bases most on the book in the world we know. We get to see our main character living a relatively normal life while she attends art school in Prague and we even get to meet her feisty little best friend. All of that is juxtaposed by the dodgy errands her “monster father” sends her on to collect teeth. Yes, teeth of all things. Why? We don’t know, that’s just one of the many mysteries.
I love the twist in this book. The way Laini Taylor weaves this story is amazing. Her writing is so beautiful, she made my cry. (Its all your fault Laini Taylor!)
This is one of those novels that truly live up to the hype!
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Heir of Fire: No. 3
By Sarah J.  Maas
Epicness
This series just gets better and better with each novel. I don’t think I can say much without spoilers. I will admit that the first few chapters are slow but it is necessary. Overall an excellent read. So many unexpected twists. Maas has set the bar high for the next one.

crown of midnight

Crown of Midnight
By Sarah J. Maas
Epic YA Fantasy
I enjoyed the first book but I will have to say I enjoyed this one more. There is more action, more magic and the world really started to develop. I have high hopes for this series and understand why Maas wrote the previous novel the way she did. It is definitely worth reading Throne of Glass so you can get to the epicness of Crown of Midnight.

The Inheritance Cycle Box Set by Christopher PaoliniInheritance Cycle 4-Book Trade Paperback Boxed Set (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance)
By Christopher Paolini
Epic Fantasy Masterpiece
I personally think that the Inheritance Cycle is one of those series that belong up there with the greats such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
Christopher Paolini does so well with using the Elves and Dragon trope and creates a unique world that you just can’t get enough of.

Must Read!
This is possibly one of my favorite series of all time. Filled with angels, monsters and magic, this series is amazing. Karou kicks ass, she holds her own with both the Angels and Chimera and the twists… Did not see that coming!
What makes it even better is the fact that it is based in our world and another…
Plus Laini Taylor writes the most beautiful prose. It reads like poetry and just makes you feel like the words are other-worldly as she weaves them together.
I’d recommend it to anyone who loves a good fantasy.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn & David LevithanNick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist
By Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
Nostalgia
I absolutely loved this book. It was the perfect light read and was really hard to put down. I ended up finishing it in one sitting.
The book takes place in one night and follows to teenagers who are quite honestly recovering from previous heartaches and are kind of trying to find their place in the world. It is raw, honest and easy to relate to. It made me crave my adolescent years.
I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quick fun read!
